Renata Bernal makes use of very traditional Ukrainian Easter egg symbolism in many of her eggs. According to Ukrainian tradition, each symbol has a very specific meaning. The horse appears as the ancient sign of the sun. Archeologists claim that the horse was first domesticated in Ukraine. This motif symbolize wealth or prosperity, endurance and speed; it also emphasizes the motion of the sun. The color black is said to represent the absolute, constancy, or eternity. The series of eggs that feature the black horse (two of these eggs are shown above) are therefore tokens of constant or eternal prosperity and strength.
